New alkyl and/or alkenyl oligoglycoside silicon ethers are obtained by reacting alkyl and/or alkenyl oligoglycosides of formula (I): R<1>O-[G]p, in which R1 stands for an alkyl and/or alkenyl radical with 4 to 22 carbon atoms, G for a sugar radical with 5 or 6 carbon atoms and p equals 1 to 10, with epoxy silicon ethers of formula (II), in which R2 stands for alkyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, q equals 0 or 1 and n and m are independently equal to 1 to 5, in the presence of basic catalysts. These substances are useful as surfactants, in particular as emulsifiers, but also as fatty substances and polysiloxane substitutes, for preparing surfactant products, in particular cosmetic compositions.
