Articles are kept within a vehicle in a compartment which is an integral part of a column lining and/or is mounted on the column lining. Preferably, the compartment is in the form of a pocket (2), with lower part (4), two side parts (3) and a front part (5), joined together so that the interior is accessible via an opening at the top or at the side. The two side parts by each have a fold running along the middle.
