A catalyst system, comprising (a) a mono:azadiene metal complex of formula (I); and (b) a suitable cocatalyst for the activation of (a), in a mol. ratio of (a):(b) = (1:0.1)- (1:10000), preferably (1:1)-(1:1000), in which M = a Group IIIb, IVb, Vb, VIb, lanthanide or actinide metal; A = optionally bridged anionic ligand; R<1>-R<5> = H, cyano, halogen, 1-20C alkyl, 1-10C fluoroalkyl or alkoxy, 6-20C aryl, 6-10C fluoroaryl or aryloxy, 2-10C alkenyl or alkynyl, 7-40C arylalkyl or alkylaryl, 8-40C aralkenyl or optionally 1-10C hydrocarbyl-substituted silyl, or each of these groups with the linking atoms may form 5-10C aliphatic or aromatic ring system(s) which may contain 1 or more hetero-atoms (O, N, S); L = a neutral ligand; n = 0-10; m = 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; k = 1, 2 or 3; and m + k = 1-5 depending on the oxidation state of M.
