NOVEL PROTEIN REMARKABLY EXPRESSED IN HEPATIC CANCER, GENE ENCODING THE SAME, ANTIBODY THERETO, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING THE EXPRESSION THEREOF

A novel protein (HRPI) showing increased expression in the course of carcinogenesis; a novel gene encoding this protein; the antisense gene of this gene; an antibody to the above-mentioned protein; and a method for monitoring hepatic cancer by using the above-mentioned protein, gene or antibody. Genes specifically expressed in rat hepatic cancer are extracted and one showing increased expression in hepatic cancer is isolated. After preparing its cDNA of the full length, the base sequence of this gene is determined to confirm that this gene is one specific to hepatic cancer. The amino acid sequence encoded by the above-mentioned gene is determined and a protein having this amino acid sequence is expressed in a recombinant Escherichia coli. Further, an antibody to the protein is prepared. By using this antibody, it has been clarified that the onset of hepatic cancer can be monitored by detecting the expression of the above-mentioned protein and detecting the above-mentioned gene.
