Metal-clad, fire-resistant, optical- or electrical cable filled with powder containing a methacrylate and waste glass or silica powder

This new cable has optical or electrical conductors (EL1-EL4) inside a casing (AH1). The internal filling is a powder (PF1), novel in being a methacrylate. Preferably it is a methyl methacrylate, especially a polymethyl methacrylate and/or a butyl methacrylate, especially an n-butyl methacrylate. It may include one or more methacrylate derivatives. The outer casing is aluminium. The casing surrounding the conductor, may be a liquid crystal polymer. It is coloured. Its melting point exceeds 250 deg C and preferably is over 350 deg C. The inner casing is a permeation barrier for the conductor inside. It may be fixed to the conductor. Other functional powders are be added to the filler (PF1), e.g. fire-resistant or retardant materials. Silica is included in the filler. Glass flour is included, especially ground waste glass. It includes additional ceramic, especially a sintered or powdered clinker.
