Disclosed is a page turning apparatus for turning over a page of a medium (PB). This page turning apparatus comprises a drive roller (7) for turning over a page of the medium and carrying the medium on a carrier path, a pressing roller (8), a carrier motor (5) for driving the drive roller, a movable panel (17) for bending the medium, a clamping member (20) for clamping the medium, a driving member (12, 13) for driving the pressing roller, the movable panel and the clamping member, and a control circuit (40) for controlling the driving member and the carrier motor. The control circuit has a page turning mode for withdrawing the pressing roller (8), advancing the movable panel (17) and the clamping member (20), and driving the drive roller (7) to allow a page of the medium to be turned over; and a carrier mode for pushing the pressing roller (8) against the drive roller (7), withdrawing the movable panel (17) and the clamping member (20), and carrying the medium (PB) by the drive roller. The single motor thereby works to turn over the page of the medium and to carry the medium. The apparatus may be applied to printers for bank books and the like. <IMAGE> |
