<p>A fixing apparatus capable of attaining the preheating of a recording medium more effectively and the increase of a transfer speed of the recording medium, which is provided with a fixing roller (22) and a pressure roller (24) urged against the fixing roller (22) so that the pressure roller (24) rolls in contact therewith, and adapted to fix an unfixed toner on a sheet (S) by passing the sheet (S) supporting the unfixed toner on an upper surface thereof through the contact-rolling portions of the fixing roller (22) and pressure roller (24) in one direction. The apparatus is characterized by being provided with a first heating means (26) provided in a position spaced from the fixing roller (22), heat transfer means (28, 32) for receiving heat from the first heating means (26) and heating the sheet (S) passing through the contact-rolling portions, and preheating and transfer means (30, 34) positioned on the upstream side, with respect to the mentioned one direction, of the pressure roller (24), heated with the heat transmitted from the first heating means (26) via the heat transfer means (28, 32), for preheating the portion of the sheet (S) which is about to pass through the contact-rolling portions, from a rear surface thereof which does not support the unfixed toner thereon, and transferring the sheet (S) to the contact-rolling portions.</p> |
