The opening in the pump body (1,3) has a sealing chamber (13) at one end and a recess in the opening to maintain the hydraulic connection between pump and chamber. The pump body is closed off (2) to form a pump chamber and traversed by a shaft (25) as carried in a bushing (22) arranged in the axial sense of the pump opening. The bushing is made of two end sectors (23) together with spaced peripheral endfaces. The bushing sectors may be at equal spacing, each being one third of the axial length of the bushing. The two sectors may be unevenly spaced apart. Oil from the pump collects in the bearing entry (12), sealing chamber and seal (46) and back to tank via outlet (15).
