The rear bumper (10) of a road vehicle has a display module (12) built into the centre section. The module is an electronic unit that is set to show the registration number and is covered by a glass plate (14). Other display modules are provided at the front of the vehicle and behind the windscreen. The displays are connected to a controller that activates lighting when darkness falls.
