The machine for the prodn. of a continuous web, of paper or cardboard, has at least one blanket (11) which travels with the web through and round the various rollers in the machine sections. The blanket (11) has at least two zones (13, 15, 17) of different characteristics across its width. At least one of the zones (13, 15, 17) is structured to transfer drive forces to the rollers (3).
