The measuring device has an illumination light source (2) and a camera (3), which operates in the visible or the IR frequency range, positioned on opposite sides of the object (7). A filter (5,6) is arranged in front of the camera, to suppress thermal radiation from the object. The light source may provide light with a wavelength of 850-900 nm. The filter may be provided as a bandpass filter with a transmission band matched to the light source wavelength.
