<p>Methods and compositions are provided for in vitro long-term hemopoiesis in generating hemopoietic stem cells and hemopoietic progenitors. The methods comprise coculturing mammalian hemopoietic stem cells with substantially pure type 1 endothelial cells, or with type 1 endothelial cell conditioned medium. Without the need for adding exogenous cytokines to the coculture, type 1 endothelial cells maintain and induce proliferation of stem cells, and direct the stem cells to differentiate into hemopoietic progenitor cells.</p> |
