PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal transfer sheet for forming a uniform, high density transfer image excellent in lightfastness by coating a support with an ink composed of an azomethine-based thermal transfer coloring matter shown by a specified general formula thereby forming a color material layer. SOLUTION: A azomethine-based coloring matter shown by a formula (where, Rf represents an alkyl group substituted by a fluorine atom, R<2> represents an alkyl group which may have a substituent, a cycloalkyl group or an aryl group, R<3> , R<4> represents independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent, an alkoxy group, a halogen atom or -NHCOR<7> (R<7> represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent, or an aryl group) is dissolved or disposed, in microparticle shape, into a medium along with a binder resin to prepare an ink which is then applied onto a support and dried to form a color material layer thus producing a thermal transfer sheet. |
