摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an active matrix liquid crystal display device of high picture quality having no longitudinal smear by sandwiching a signal wire between a counter electrode and a floating electrode orthogonally to substrate surfaces. SOLUTION: A lower substrate 100 uses a glass plate 101 as its substrate and has a floating electrode 107, an SiN layer 108, a signal wire 103, a protection film layer 109, a counter electrode 106, a pixel electrode 105, and an orientation film layer 150 laminated thereupon. A liquid crystal panel is constituted having a liquid crystal composition 300 sandwiched between an upper substrate 200 and the lower substrate 100. Namely, the signal wire 103 is sandwiched between the floating electrode 107 and counter electrode 106 orthogonally to the substrate surfaces. An electric field (lines of electric force) from the signal wire 103 and lines 701 and 702 of electric force are pressed in by the counter electrode 106 and the lower side is converged on the floating electrode 107, so the influence on the liquid crystal 300 between the pixel electrode 105 and counter electrode 106 is reduced, so that the electric field can be applied to the liquid crystal 300 with good efficiency.
