PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the print quality while preventing occurrence of beading by setting the fluctuation in the diffraction strength of a diffraction pattern at a specified level or below when an electron beam impinges on the cross-section of an ink receiving layer where an alumina hydrate exists with no orientation. SOLUTION: The recording medium includes an ink receiving layer formed by coating a basic material with a coating liquid where a pigment, i.e., nonorientation alumina hydrate, is mixed with a binder. Physical properties of the ink receiving layer depend not only on the nonorientation alumina hydrate being employed but on the kind and quantity of binder to be mixed, the concentration, viscosity and dispersion of the coating liquid to be mixed, the coater, the coating quantity, and the like. When the fluctation in the diffraction strength of an annular diffraction image, being obtained when the recording medium is cut in the thickness direction and the cross-section of the ink receiving layer is irradiated with an electron beam, is set at 5% or below, absorption rate can be increased sufficiently and occurrence of beading can be prevented effectively. |
