PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power resisting body which has an appropriate and stable resistance by increasing the heat capacity per unit volume of the material, by forming a high-resistance layer containing aluminum oxide and a specific amount of carbon and at least one element selected from among Al, Ca, Mg, and Si in its outer peripheral surface. SOLUTION: A resisting body 1 is constituted of a discoid sintered body 2, a pair of electrodes 3 which are respectively formed on both surfaces of the sintered body 2, and a high-resistance layer 4 which covers the outer peripheral surface of the sintered body 2. The sintered body 2 has a composition containing aluminum oxide and about 0.5-3 wt.% carbon and the high-resistance layer 4 contains at least one element selected from among Al, Ca, Mg, and Si. The high-resistance layer 4 may contain N. A plurality of resistance bodies is constituted of compact sintered bodies so that the resistance bodies may have large heat capacities and the temperature rises of the resistance bodies may be suppressed, and then, the occurrence of creeping discharge may be suppressed effectively when high voltages are impressed upon the resistance bodies. |
