PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in hair growing actions such as inhibitory effects on depilation and promoting effects on hair production, especially useful as a hair growing agent, by including an extract of a plant of the genus Kleinhovia of the family Sterculiaceae. SOLUTION: This composition contains generally 0.0005-20.0 wt.%, preferably 0.001-10.0 wt.% (dried substance base) based on the total of the composition of an extract obtained by immersing the leaves, stems including underground stems, roots, fruits, barks, etc., or the whole plant of a plant of the genus Kleinhovia of the family Sterculiaceae in an extracting solvent (hot water or an organic solvent such a lower alcohol or a polyhydric alcohol or other organic solvents), refluxing the solvent by heating, filtering and concentrating the extracted solution. The composition of this invention is preferably useful as a hair tonic and can be properly formulated with a component useful for a composition for head, such as an ordinary cosmetic, a quasi drug or a medicine besides the essential component as occasion demands. |
