PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translucent reflector giving a wide visual angle when it is used for a backlight jointly-use reflection liquid crystal display device by making a light transmissivity in a specific wavelength a specific range. SOLUTION: A rugged layer 60 consisting of a tightly filled particle layer substantially being a layer is formed on a transparent high polymer film 70, and further, a metallic thin film layer 50 is formed on it. Then, the light transmissivity of this translucent reflector in a wavelength 550 nm is >=1% and <=50%. For obtaining this translucent reflector, it is important that the tightly filled particle layer substantially being one layer is used as the rugged layer 60 and preferably, the shape of a valley between particles is controlled so that scattered light in reduced. Polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, etc., are used for this transparent high polymer film 70 but not always are limited to them and a transparent substance having a high glass transition temp. to a certain extent may be used. |
