PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve lighting performance of a discharge lamp with a simple circuit structure and prevent the discharge lamp from flickering out at the end of its life time. SOLUTION: In a lighting circuit 1 of a discharge lamp, a direct current power source 2, a DC/AC converting means 3 for converting a direct current voltage outputted from a direct current power source 2 into an AC voltage and supply it to the discharge lamp 5 and a circuit element 6 (a switch element or a current-lighting element) to block or limit a reverse current from the DC/AC converting means 3 to the direct current power source 2 are provided, and an inductive load 4 is connected in series to the discharge lamp 5. A series circuit of a Zener diode 7 and a passive element 8 (a capacitor or a resistor) is also provided, in parallel with the circuit element 6, and a rise in an auxiliary voltage for restrike is suppressed, when the Zener diode 7 is conducted. |
