PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smooth a hand-over action by detecting outgoing control channel signals sent from peripheral base stations, while keeping communication, selecting a peripheral base station providing a best reception level among the peripheral base stations and allowing the mobile terminal to maintain synchronization with the outgoing control channel signal of the selected station. SOLUTION: A terminal receives base station control channel signals from stations other than the communicating base station for times other than the time slots addressed to the terminal and measures reception electric field strength of the signals, measures a code error rate and selects a base station which provides a best reception level. The terminal continues the speech with the base station, while making synchronization with a link control channel timing of the selected base station. In the case that speech quality with the base station has deteriorated, the terminal makes a switching request to the selected base station for a time slot period not in use, the base station informs the switching request to a channel control station. Then the channel control station sends a switching reply control signal to the selected base station, resulting in being informed to the terminal. The terminal switches the transmission reception with the current base station, and the user obtains a speech with superior quality without realizing the replacement of the base station. |
