PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multichannel echo elimination method/device which can converge the coefficient value of an adaptive filter at the correct value by the impulse response of an echo path and also can improve the sound quality. SOLUTION: The preprocessing signal obtained by preprocessing a receiving signal 2 by a preprocessing circuit 300 and the signal obtained by applying the time multiplexing to the signal 2 are used in place of each other. The adaptive filters 122 and 124 operate by using the signal 2 or the preprocessing signal as an input signal, and an adaptive filter coefficient can be decided by means of the conditional expressions double as much as those used in a case where only the signal 2 is used as an input signal. Therefore, an undefined adaptive filter coefficient is eliminated and the coefficient of the adaptive filter can be converged at the correct value. Furthermore, the movement of a sound image that is caused by a multiplex parameter of the original receiving signal and an auxiliary signal is canceled by correcting the amplitude to the input signal. As a result, the deterioration of the found quality can be suppressed for the received signals 1 and 2 which are directly supplied to the speakers 3 and 4 to keep the satisfactory sound quality.
