<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a nonlinear element for an evaluation reference by employing a genetic manipulation for image conversion processing. SOLUTION: String generating circuits 40-42 by a genetic manipulation generate a prescribed block of Y, U, V images which are components of an HD image, corresponding to an object SD image (SD image given to a YUV separator circuit 56) through a genetic manipulation. The generated HD image is converted into the SD image by down-converters 43-45 and fed to evaluation circuits 49-51, and given to DCT circuits 46-48, where the image is converted into frequency components, they are similarly fed to the evaluation circuits 49-51. The evaluation circuits 49-51 compare the original SD image that is separated by a YUV separate circuit 56 and block-processed by block processing circuits 57-59 with the HD image converted into the SD image by the down- converters 43-45 and reference high frequency components which are outputted from the DCT circuits 46-48 and allow selection circuits 52-54 for selecting the optimum HD image and a composite circuit 55 composites the HD images and provides them and outputs as HD images.</p> |
