PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly enhance the accuracy and efficiency of surveying work by eliminating errors resulting from collimation. SOLUTION: This device includes a camera 2 mounted on the eyepiece part of the telescope 2a of surveying equipment 1, a penlight provided so as to have an optical axis parallel to the optical axis of the telescope 2a, a target 11 placed at a target point and provided with a reflecting sheet on a black sheet, and an image processing device which displays the target 11 photographed with the penlight and the camera 2 on a liquid-crystal display. The surveying equipment is approximately collimated to the target so that the center point of the scale of the telescope 2a within the liquid-crystal screen enters the target 11. The horizontal and vertical deviations H, V of the position T0 of the gravitational center point of the target 11 from the position C0 of the scale center point of the telescope 2a are calculated and added as angular deviationsβH,βV respectively to horizontal angleαH and vertical angleαV which are obtained from the approximate collimation, thereby determining the horizontal and vertical angles of the target point.
