PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum honeycomb superior in high temperature strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., by diffusion welding in which magnesium vaporized by pressurizing and heating removes by reduction the oxide film on the texture of an aluminum alloy foil. SOLUTION: An aluminum honeycomb is manufactured using an Mg containing aluminum alloy foil AL as the base material for the cell wall. The cell wall is formed by joining in striation the aluminum alloy foil AL, the base material for the cell wall, by diffusion welding. In other words, using the Mg containing aluminum alloy foil AL as the cell wall base material, the oxide film 3 on the texture 2 surface is removed by reduction through pressurizing and heating, with the cell walls diffusion-welded to each other in striation. With a release agent arranged on the base material at a specific width and pitch, diffusion welding is performed on the texture in contact left in striation between the release agent. Thus, the cell walls are diffusion-welded to each other without using an adhesive or a filler metal. |
