PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the surface tension of a wet coat to enlarge a hammer tone pattern and make an uneven pattern clear without darkening it by applying a primer coating to the surface of a metal plate to cure it and setting the wet coat thickness of the coating containing an inorganic pigment powder above a specified size. SOLUTION: After applying a primer coating to the surface of a metal plate and curing it, a coating containing an inorganic pigment is applied on the cured primer coat, a finish coating which is of a miscible resin and has a lower surface tension than a coating containing inorganic pigment powder is sprayed over the coat containing the inorganic pigment before this coat is dry. In the method for manufacturing the coated metal plate to be dried after forming an irregularly shaped pattern, it is necessary to prevent the center part of the pattern from becoming transparent when it is thin by making a wet coat thick in view of the necessity to apply a coating containing the inorganic pigment powder for enlarging the particle diameter of the pattern. To meet this necessity, the wet coat has only to be 25μm or more thick, so that it is possible to enlarge the particle diameter and enable the disappearance of a darkening phenomenon.
