PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aging preventive containing Hericium erinaceum as active ingredient, and useful for pharmaceutical compositions or food compositions capable of suppressing aging progression seen as hair and skin aging and of suppressing the decline in learning/memory ability due to aging. SOLUTION: This aging preventive contains, as active ingredient, Hericium erinaceum (belonging to the genus Hericiaceae) and/or extracts thereof, being used normally in the form of ground product, concentrate or dried product of the fruits. The extract is obtained, for example, through the following process: the fruits of Hericium erinaceum is chopped into fine pieces which are then subjected to extraction with a solvent such as ethanol at room temperature for 1-50 h under gentle agitation followed by filtration or centrifugation to collect a filtrate, from which the aimed extract can be obtained. |
