PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an urethral instrument which can be positioned relatively easily within the urethra. SOLUTION: An urethral instrument 100 includes a tubular body, having a proximal portion 107 designed to be positioned within the urethra as it is oriented toward the urinary bladder and the urinary bladder neck, and having a distal portion 106 located on the opposite side to the proximal portion 107. A sensor portion located at the tubular body reacts to the characteristics of urine to output a first signal showing that the proximal portion 107 of the tubular body has been positioned properly with respect to the urinary bladder and the urinary bladder neck. To place the urethral instrument 100, an insertion device is used. The insertion device is coupled to the end of the urethral instrument 100 and used to push the urethral instrument 100 into the urethra. The first signal is transmitted from the urethral instrument 100 through an insertion apparatus to a person who positions the urethral instrument 100. Once the urethral instrument 100 is positioned properly, the insertion device is disconnected from the urethral instrument 100 and pulled out. |
