CORES PROVIDING REDUCED SPINDLE CLEARANCE FOR CORE WOUND PAPER PRODUCTS

A core (20) for compressed core wound paper products adapted for rotation on a s pindle is disclosed. The core (20) is deformable from a generally rounded configuration to a generally flattened configuration fo r transportation and storage. The core (20) includes tab portions (30) that are deformable to extend radially inward of core inner and ou ter surfaces (28, 26) to reduce core to spindle clearance when the core (20) is rounded for use.
