The separator (1) by punching is for the ejection of a pre-cut piece, notably scrap, from a sheet of material (2) which contain cut-outs or the equivalent. This separator (1) is mounted solid with an ejector support (6) arranged to co-operate with a bottom die (4) provided with an opening (5) covered over by the pre-cut piece (3) of the sheet of material (2), to allow from a relative displacement between the bottom die (4) and the ejection support (6), the separation of the pre-cut piece (3) from the sheet of material (2) under the pressure exerted by the separator (1). The separator (1), by punching, is made up of a body (9) fixed to the ejector support (6) and a pressing head (7) detachably mounted onto the body (9). The pressing head (7) comes in contact with the pre-cut piece (3) during the relative displacement between the bottom die (4) and the ejector support (6).
