Reduction of nitrogen gas emission using a ruthenium and tin based catalyst

The reduction of nitrogen gas emission using a ruthenium or a ruthenium and tin based catalyst is claimed. It consists of using a catalytic composition comprising of ruthenium on a rutile support or a support containing an alkaline or an alkaline-earth or a rare earth, the ruthenium being deposited onto the support in the salt or in a sol or in a complex form.
