PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF AMLODIPINE BENZENESULFONATE AND NOVEL INTERMEDIATES USEFUL IN THIS PROCESS

There is disclosed a process for the preparation of amplodipine benzenesulfonate, which is a well-known pharmaceutical agent, wherein a protected amplodipine derivative of the formula A wherein R is one of the tautomeric forms of =P(OH)Ph2, =CHPh(pNO2) or =CHPh(oCl), is hydrolysed with benzenesulfonic acid. The object of the invention is also the compound of the formula A. The process is simple and suitable for application on industrial scale.
