The invention concerns a device (1) for controlling an installation (2), comprising means (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) for monitoring and/or controlling the operation of said installation (2), and a central data processing unit (14) adapted to communicate with said monitoring and/or controlling means (9, 10, 11, 12, 13,) to read, send and/or process data concerning the operation of the installation. The central unit (14) comprises means (16) for storing at least one task in parametric representation acting on said data concerning the operation of the installation, means for memorising at least a table, each table being associated with a task in parametric representation and comprising parameter values of the task concerned for the execution thereof, and, connected to each storing means (16, 17) means (15) for executing said tasks in parametric representation using said values memorised in said table(s) when said tasks in parametric representation are being executed.
