RECOMBINANT DNA WHICH CODES FOR EPITOPES OF THE MAJOR ALLERGEN OF OLEA EUROPAEA OLE E 1 USEFUL FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ALLERGIES

Recombinant DAN has been cloned which codes for epitopes of the major allergen of Olea europaea and has homology with other major allergens (Syr v 1 and Lig v 1) of other species belonging to the Oleaceae family. The pollen of said plants has great allergenic importance in the mediterranean basin. The recombinant allergen has been produced as a protein of fusion with the glutation-S-transferase and was further separated therefrom by digestion with thrombin. The resulting allergen (rOle e 1) shows an antigenic behaviour similar to that of the natural allergen and can be used in diagnosis and immunotherapy.
