The invention relates to a redundant serial bus and to a method for the operation thereof. In order to connect serial bus systems known per se by redundantly configured bus lines without using systems-integrated redundancy means (3), the invention provides that an upstream redundancy means (3) is switched between the bus communication interface (200) of a bus-user (2) and the redundant bus lines (11, 12). This enables continuous transmission to occur on all bus lines (11, 12) and an interference-free bus line (11, 12) to be selected for reception.
