Polyolefin conversion products have terminal double bonds and a Mn of 250-10,000, and contain straight chain or aliphatic hydrocarbons having 1-4C alkyl side chains, with 1-10 mol per equiv. double bond of one or more vinyl esters of formula R1COOCH=CH2 (I) R1 = H, 1-30C alkyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl, 7-18C aralkyl or 6-14C aryl, opt. substd. by ≤ 3 1-12C alkyls, 1-12C alkoxys, CNs, OHs, or 1-4C alkoxycarbonyls. Also claimed are conversion prods. of polyolefins having terminal double bonds, of formula R4ÄCH(X)-CH2ÜnH (II): R4 = straight chain or aliphatic hydrocarbons having 1-4C alkyl side chains; X = -O-CO-R1, OH or NR2R3; R1 = H, 1-30C alkyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl, 7-18C aralkyl, or 6-14C aryl, opt. substd. by ≤ 3 1-12C alkyls, 1-12C alkoxys, CNs, OHs, or 1-4C alkoxycarbonyls; and R2 and R3 = H, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons, prim. or sec., aromatic or aliphatic (poly)aminoalkylenes, polyoxyalkylenes, heteroaryls, or heterocyclyls, or together with the N atom form a ring, in which further heteroatoms are present; and n = 1-10. Prodn. of (II) is also claimed. Further claimed are fuel and lubricant compsns. contg. (II) as additives.
