Diesel fuel

A fuel compsn. comprises hydrocarbons with b.pt. in the diesel fuel range of 160-370 deg.C and contg. S and a particulate emission reducing amt. of a glycerol ether additive with formula (I), R1, R2 and R3 each = H or 1-10C alkyl, at least two of R1, R2 and R3 being the alkyl gp. Pref. the additive is used in combination with methyl soyate. The compsn. comprises at least 70 vol.% of diesel hydrocarbons with 1-30 wt.% of the glycerol ether opt. with methyl soyate. R1 nd R3 are 4-5C tert. alkyl gps. The compsn. contains 0.1-15 pref. 0.2-10 vol.% of the additive and also contains a cetane improving amt. of a peroxidic or nitrate cetane improver.
