An electrical connector (10) has a number of male electrical contacts (50) arrayed in a mating cavity (70) and a metal shield (80) arranged so that is covers practically the entire surface of the mating cavity (70). A mating electrical connector (110) intended for electrical connection with the electrical connector (10) has female electrical contacts (150) intended for electrical connection with the male contacts (50). Female contacts (150) are arrayed inside plug section (130). At the time of connection, the plug section (130) is inserted in the mating cavity (70). The outer surface of the plug section (130) is covered by a metal shield (180). The shield (80) of the electrical connector (10) has slanted guiding surfaces (85) flared out at the circumference of the mating cavity (70) that function as a guiding means for the mating connector (110) during the insertion thereof into the electrical connector (10). |
