FIELD: mining industry, chemical industry, public utilities, detection of explosives in atmosphere. SUBSTANCE: igniter for explosive atmosphere has element for ignition of gas mixture made up of two electrodes connected to source of electric discharge on one side and placed into explosion-safe combustion chamber with two metal grids and insulation block where electrodes are anchored on the other side. Combustion chamber is fitted with inspection holes. It is envisaged to provide combustion chamber with light reflector and to manufacture inspection hole in the form of lens. Igniter makes it feasible to prevent blasts and occurrence of fires of gases and gas mixture in zone where personnel work and where leaks of explosive gases may take place.
