A construction member or preform for an archway, a method for its manufacture, a mold for molding the member and a method of installing the member are all provided. The construction member allows for time and cost efficient installation of an archway. A drywall paper coating provided on the member's inside surface results in efficient installation and finishing processes which require a minimum number of steps. To form the member, paper or the like is maintained in tension across the top of a mold, and for this purpose the top of the mold has a generally convex shape. the materials to form polyurethane are placed in the mold and caused to react and expand, causing the polyurethane foam to be pressed against the paper sheet and to bond to it.
