摘要 <p>The method irradiates the sample medium with periodically modulated light of a predetermined period. Light scattered in the sample medium in the form of individual photons is detected. The time difference between the detection time of each photon and a reference time point in the corresponding period of the irradiating light is determined as a delay time. As well as determining the delay time for each photon, the detection time for each photon is determined. Using the delay time of detected photons, at least one parameter of the scattered light is determined. The parameter is determined using the delay times for a number of immediately successive photons. From these detection time points, a time is determined. Using the parameter(s) and the time value of the successively detected values at least one parameter-time value pair is determined. From these pairs of several successive numbers at least one parameter-time function is determined. A correlation function of this function is calculated from which the predetermined properties of the particle are determined.</p>
