In order to ensure hermetic sealing of the sliding door and to enable it to open easily, the invention provides that a door leaf is suspended using a running gear (6, 7) on a supporting guide rail (4, 5), specially a dual track supporting guide rail, whose an active area when closed is located at a lower level and closer to the door opening than the remaining area so that the leaf of the door tightly seals the opening of the door in a closed position and can be raised quickly and easily from the door opening when the door is opened.
