The dispenser has a receptacle for the roll of material and a cutter. The receptacle has two guide lips which are directed towards the exterior of the receptacle and extend parallel to each other transversely to the direction in which the sheet material is unrolled. Each lip is toothed, and carries a line of a number of teeth which correspond to each other on the two lips. The cutter uses a mechanism which cuts the film adjacent to the edge of the lips, and positioned towards the outside of the receptacle.
