Flexible coupling for drive shaft of aircraft wing slat and flap

An aircraft wing has a flexible union between sections of shaft, moving either the leading edge slats or the trailing edge flaps. The end of each shaft section which is to be joined has a flange. Each flange is joined to the adjacent flange by a flexible disc and bolts which pass between both flanges and the disc. The load is transferred between the adjacent shaft sections primarily by the bolts, or by a bolt linkage incorporating mechanical play which discharges the function of a flexible disc.
