A new two-stage process for the conversion of heavy hydrocarbon fractions

A new process for the conversion of hydrocarbon fractions having a S content of at least 0.05%. initial b.pt. of at least 300 deg C. and final b.pt. of at least 400 deg C., which comprises the following stages :- a) The charge is treated in the presence of H2 in a triphasic reactor containing a hydrotreatment catalyst with a partly amorphous support on a fluidised bed, and functioning in liquid/gas ascending flow.A catalyst outlet near the base of the reactor and an inlet for fresh catalyst are provided ; b)The effluent from (a) is passed to a fixed bed reactor containing a hydro-cracking catalyst with a mineral support, in conditions which produce an effluent with a low S content and a high medium distillate content.
