Carboxy-alkylated chitin derivatives production

Chitin derivatives are obtained by converting chitin and/or chitosan into the alkali salt with concentrated aqueous alkali hydroxide solution, and subsequently carboxyalkylating the alkali salt with halocarboxylic acids and/or salts of these in an extruder. Also claimed is production of the carboxyalkylated chitin derivatives.
