Overlapping scanning for binary image display

The overlapping scanning receives the binary image data and overlaps the scanning by combining adjacent lines with an exclusive-OR logic operation. The resulting image data for the background and for an object to be displayed are gathered after the overlapping process and coded. The object image data is tested to see whether it contains exceptional values of sampled data (ESD). If there are no exceptional values the transitional sampled values (TSD) are coded, simplifying the overall coding. If there are exceptional values, the transitional sampled data, the exceptional sampled data and the predictive sampled data are encoded.
