<p>An ink jet recording method is disclosed which comprises the step of depositing a reactant-containing reaction solution and an ink composition onto a recording medium to conduct printing on the recording medium, the weight of the ink composition deposited per dot on the recording medium being larger than the weight of the reaction solution deposited per dot on the recording medium. In this method, for the two liquids, the regulation of the surface tension and the regulation of the amount deposited on the recording medium can realize good image quality, especially a pixel (for example, a dot) having good circularity. Specifically, the surface tension of the reaction solution, gamma 1 (mN/m), the surface tension of the ink composition, gamma 2 (mN/m), and M = (weight of the reaction solution deposited per dot on the recording medium)/(weight of the ink composition deposited per dot on the recording medium) are regulated so as to satisfy the following: when gamma 1 </= 35 and 40 </= gamma 2 </= 55, M is 30 to 90%; when gamma 1 > 35 and 40 </= gamma 2 </= 55, M is 40 to 90%; when gamma 1 </= 35 and gamma 2 < 40, M is 20 to 80%; and when gamma 1 > 35 and gamma 2 < 40, M is 50 to 90%. <IMAGE></p> |
