The present invention provides a system that can be readily mounted within a tax icab, within any other vehicle, or at any other location, and which provides not only a count er threat to a potential criminal act, but also, if actuated, will take a photograph of the ind ividual or individuals considered to pose a threat to, for example, a taxicab driver. The system of thi s invention involves a housing that can removably house a camera body and which can be mounted at a l ocation that gives the camera housed therein a view of the area in which a threatening person would be situated. In the case of a vehicle such as a taxicab the housing would be positioned at th e location of the passenger sun visor so that the camera would be aimed rearwardly so as to have a view of at least the rear passenger area and any people riding there. The system would also inclu de a flexible tube extending from the housing to a location adjacent the driver, the distal end of the flexible tube including an actuator so that the driver could operate the actuator and thereby cause a photograph to be taken by the camera. The resulting photograph should show anyone within th e vehicle for later identification if necessary.
