<p>This invention is of a cutting tool collet comprising a) a collet body (1), b) a tool carrier (2) telescoped in co-axial relation and within the body (1), c) keying structure between the body (1) and carrier (2) which includes ball bearings (4) and mating socket grooves (5) in the collet body (1) and tool carrier and which provides for limited compensating axial movement of the tool carrier (2) relative to the collet body (1) when in use, d) a quick change tool feature (9) for replacing a worn tool (16) with a new one, and e) an internal socket structure (49) in the tool carrier (2) with prismatic drive surfaces (3), which are preferably square in cross section, which socket provides for a positive drive connection with the shank of a cutting tool (16) having a mating prismatic surface.</p> |
