Compounds of general formula (1), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt and/or prodrug thereof, wherein each of A and B independently represent fused rings selected from a group consisting of monocyclic or polycyclic cycloalkyls, cycloalkenyls, aryls, and heterocyclic rings, said rings comprising from 4 to 8 atoms in a ring structure; X represents Cr, N, N(O), P, or As; Y represents CR2, R, O, PR, AsR, or Se; and pharmaceutical preparations that inhibit the growth of bacterial microorganism.
